Return to the beloved small town of Eternity Springs in the newest installment of Emily March’s New York Times bestselling series with A Stardance Summer.

The last person she expects to find running an RV resort is her high school crush. Their undeniable mutual attraction is a reminder that life is full of surprises. But when the past comes calling, will their summer romance stand the test of time?

Author Interview

I'm excited to have author Emily March on the blog today to discuss her upcoming release, A STARDANCE SUMMER.
Thanks for sharing, Emily!

Pssst..isn't the cover gorgeous!

What will newbies to Eternity Springs find unique in your work?
My recurring character, the wise-woman Celeste Blessing, is written in such a way that the reader asks “Is she or isn’t she an angel.” My answer is that it’s up to the reader to decide. Spirituality is individual, so I think Celeste’s spirituality should be, too.

Describe A Stardance Summer in 5 words.
Camping with the Callahans—Yum!

Where’s the story set? How much influence did the setting have on the atmosphere/ characters/ development of the story?
A Stardance Summer is set in Eternity Springs Colorado. It is the thirteenth book of the series so the setting is well established and very much a character in the series. Eternity Springs is where broken hearts come to heal.

Do you listen to music while you write? What are some tunes on your playlist?
I listen to movie soundtracks: Last of the Mohicans, Braveheart, Lord of the Rings, DragonHeart, Gettysburg, Somewhere in Time, Dances with Wolves. I also listen to Celtic spa music and classical piano and cello duets.

What's on the top of your TBR pile right now?
I’m reading Nora Roberts’ Come Sundown..

Guest Post: House Rules by Cathryn Fox

Series: Dossier
Release Date: June 5, 2017

The last thing I expected to fine in my dossier was sexy stockings, a plane voucher to London and an invitation to dance at a gentleman’s club. I’m a quiet museum curator for God’s sake. No way, no how am I going to slide down a pole for a bunch of over privileged, narcissistic men—until I see Sean Fraser, my childhood crush, enter the establishment. Since I’m no longer that overweight teen with braces and mousey hair, there is no way he’ll recognize me. Hmmm… Maybe I’ll give him a fake name—and a private dance. That ought to make him finally notice me, right?

What the hell is Kennedy Lane doing sliding down a pole in a private Gentlemen’s club? I’m not sure, and while I know she’s hands off, I want her. I’ve always wanted her. She might have been too young for me back in the day. Now, not so much. Hands off leads to hands on after a private dance, and while Kennedy spends the weekend pretending to be someone she isn’t, I know full well who she is. And I’m not quite ready to let her hand up her stockings when the show is over.

Playing Games

Have you ever played Truth or Dare, or other fun games like Spin the Bottle when you were a kid? I’m pretty sure most of us have played some kind of game where we had to reveal something secretive about ourselves, or run into the other room and kiss your best friend’s older brother. Am I speaking from experience here…ahem, yeah!

I totally had a HUGE crush on my best friend’s older brother. There was about a five-year age gap, and of course to him, I was the annoying little girl who hung around the house with his equally annoying sister. I had many sleepovers at my friend’s house and when…oh, let’s call him Rick…was staying at a friend’s place for the night (as he did most weekends) my friend’s mother would put me in his bed to sleep. Oh, the fantasies of a thirteen year old. LOL. I used to lay there, with my PG 13 fantasies running amok, and imagine what it would be like if he came home, didn’t know I was in his bed, and crawled in with me. I would picture his face shocked t first, but then we’d kiss and he’d profess his love to me, telling me he was only with all those other girls (there were a lot of them, he was hot!) to get his mind off me. Oh, the imagination I had. Is it any wonder I grew up to write romance?

My best friend and I, along with a few other girls, would often play Truth or Dare. When Rick was home, I always picked Dare, and finally, FINALLY, one of my friends dared me to run into the other room and kiss him. I did, and unfortunately it didn’t turn out quite the way I’d imagined when I was in his bed fantasying about him, but he was nice enough, and didn’t embarrass me—very different from the way it plays out in HOUSE RULES, where candy and not kisses are involved.

When I sat down to write House Rules, and used my favorite trope of best friend’s older brother, I pulled a lot from my real life and even had the game of Truth or Dare mentioned a time or two. Of course it’s been years since I played the children’s version of the game, but after doing a search I found an adult version, which is going to go to one lucky winner to celebrate the release of House Calls.

Since we’re talking about games, have you played Cards Against Humanity? OMG, my son gave me this for Christmas and I played it with hubby, my son and my son’s girlfriend over the holidays. It’s pretty racy at times, and my son’s girlfriend said, I could never play this with my parents. I loved it so much I invited 3 couples over a few weeks back and we played. I laughed so hard, I ended up with a headache by the end of the night, but fortunately there was wine to help with that. You sure can learn a lot about a person, with a game like that. If you haven’t played, I highly recommend it.

So tell me, what sexy, fun adult games have you played and would recommend to me? I’m looking to purchase a few more!

Type: Contemporary Romance
Series: Winning Ace #1

When the opportunity arises for journalist Tally McKenzie to meet tennis ace Cash Gallagher, she grabs it without hesitation. Desperate for a killer story to advance her career, she’ll have to betray her idol and her own morals into the bargain if she is to succeed.

Renowned bad boy Cash wants one thing; to remain at the top of his game. He’s fought hard to get there, and he’s not about to lose his crown, especially over a woman.

When Cash divulges personal information, Tally seizes her chance and writes an explosive article. Incensed, Cash sets out to get his revenge. Except the darling of centre court gets more than he bargained for—a passionate affair with a woman he should detest.

But Cash is a man with secrets—secrets that could destroy his career. Dare he take the risk? Or is the cost too great, even for his perfect match.

I'm excited to have author Tracie Delaney on the blog today to discuss her newest release, WINNING ACES.
Thanks for sharing, Tracie!

Give us your "elevator pitch" for this series
Young journalist, Tally McKenzie, needs a killer story to advance her career.
Tennis star Cash Gallagher despises the press.
Two people from different worlds brought together by an explosive story begin a passionate affair, but trust issues, secrets from the past, and habitual fears of abandonment threaten to destroy their relationship before it has had chance to begin.

What will readers who pick up one of the Winning Ace serials find unique in your work?
My voice. I’ve been told on several occasions that I have a very unique writing voice. I believe this comes from my snappy dialogue which I ensure isn’t overly drowned with narrative. Description is very much required to set the scene, but large paragraphs of ‘info dump’ simply slow the action. My novels are very fast paced.

What is your favorite scene in the Winning Ace world??
My overall favourite scene is in Book 3, Grand Slam, but to avoid spoilers, I’ll pick my favourite scene in Book 1 which is when Tally runs out on Cash after an argument and he finally has to admit that she is making him question his whole belief system. It took a lot for Cash to show his vulnerabilities and my heart breaks for him because he finds it so difficult to let people see the real man behind the veneer he shares with the world.

What is your favorite underappreciated romance novel?
Blood Shadows by Lindsay J Pryor. It’s a Paranormal Romance novel in the Blackthorn series. I love those books so much. The world is complex, the writing sublime and the alpha’s hot! In my opinion, they should be topping the bestseller lists worldwide.

Do you listen to music while you write? What are some tunes on your playlist?
When I’m writing a first draft, I don’t mind having music on in the background. My go-to stuff is anything by Snow Patrol, although I also love Adele. When I’m rewriting or editing it’s complete silence. My husband has suffered from the odd death stare if he interupts me when I’m editing!

Tracie Delaney is the author of the Winning Ace trilogy. She loves nothing more than immersing herself in a good romance, although she sometimes, rather cheekily, makes her characters wait for their HEA.

When she isn’t writing or sitting around with her head stuck in a book, she can often be found watching The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones or any tennis match involving Roger Federer. Her greatest fear is running out of coffee.

Tracie studied accountancy, gaining her qualification in 2001. Her maths teacher would no doubt be stunned by this revelation considering Tracie could barely add two plus two at high school.

Tracie lives in the North West of England with her amazingly supportive husband. They both share a love of dogs, travel and wine.

Excerpt

Stone Mitchell—my worst nightmare.

The muscles of his back rippled against his tight-fitting black t-shirt like he’d been molded into it. He had thick brown hair that was made of silk, softer than silk…my hands remembered exactly how soft.

In a complete stupor, I let go of the handle of the suitcase, causing it to crash against the tiled floor. He spun around, tossed a dish towel over his shoulder, and froze mid-spin. Icy topaz eyes met my disgusted glare head on.

“What the hell are you doing here?” he bit out.

“Stone…” My heart screamed for me to bolt, but I didn’t take a single step.

“I asked you what the hell you’re doing here.” He tossed the kitchen towel across the countertop and folded his arms across this chest.

“I-I’m supposed to be here. Why are you here?”

“This is the last place you’re supposed to be.”

This had to be the most jacked-up karma in the world. Nausea rolled into the pit of my stomach and my nails dug into the palms of my hand. The cocky bastard wore the same expression he’d worn all those years ago.

“Dovie sent me.” My voice was barely above a whisper.

“Why the hell would my grandmother send you to my house?”

Behind him, foamy liquid spilled over the rim of the stockpot, filling the room with popping sounds as the contents ran onto the burner and sizzled. “Shit!” He whirled around, quickly moving it.

My mind formulated a hundred different scenarios to rationalize what was happening, but one thought screamed louder than the rest: Get the hell out of here. I seized the opportunity, grabbed my bag, and ran like hell. Bolting out of the house, I took the steps off the deck two at a time, my suitcase bouncing all around behind me.

Halfway down, wind whipping my hair against my face, I heard the door slam above then heavy footsteps closing in behind me. Sheets of rain blew underneath the house, stinging my skin. Adrenaline fueled my feet as I reached the sedan’s door handle, seconds away from leaving the biggest mistake of my life behind.

“Why are you here? No way did Gammy send you here,” he called out as he kept walking toward me like a predator.

“I’m here because she offered me this place for the summer. I don’t know… She didn’t send me here knowing you were here.” She couldn’t have. My Dovie would never have done that to me…or to him.

Only steps away, he showed no sign of stopping, so I spun back around to make my great escape. He caged in my body against the car, not touching me, but so close that if I moved at all, I would land against either his arms or chest. He pressed the frame of the door closed.

“Get away from me. I’m leaving, and I just want to forget I ever saw you.”

“Liar. You won’t forget. I don’t think you’ve ever forgotten…” He leaned in closer, stopping when his mouth was against my ear. “You’ve never forgotten how you whispered my name into my ear, over and over again.”

His words repulsed me. I hated him.

“I remember you being the biggest mistake of my life.”

“Turn around.”

“Go to hell.”

“I earned my free ticket to hell a long time ago. Turn around, Avery.”

The way my name rolled off his tongue caused my breath to catch; it always had. I despised the fact that he still possessed the power to make my traitorous body react. He was and always would be toxic. Forbidden. Poison. I’d had a taste, and it had nearly killed me. Now, I knew better than to bite the apple.

He pressed his chest against my back, and old memories trespassed into my mind. No matter how hard I’d tried, I’d never forgotten the last night we’d spent together. Under an audience of a million twinkling stars, we had slept on a blanket on the edge of Cotton Wilson’s private lake. That night had been beautiful. Perfect. Two days later, Stone was long gone, and thanks to social media and gossiping texts, the people in my small community knew why before I did.

“Leave me alone,” I whispered.

“I can’t do that. There’s a bad storm coming with high winds and a lot of rain. I know for a fact that the only two motels are full, and by now the ferry has already closed.”

There had to be somewhere else for me to stay. A shelter. A church. Hell, even in my car. Another large gust of wind sailed through the air, knocking over the trash bin by the driveway and causing a piece of some sort of metal to blow down the street.

He placed his hand on my upper arm in a gentle touch. “Come inside, Avery, before you end up getting hurt.”

Author Interview
I'm excited to have author Lauren Smith on the blog today to discuss her new book, Legally Charming. Thanks for sharing so openly and freely, Lauren!

What kind of research do you do and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book??
It depends on what type of book for how long I research. If it’s a historical book I tend to write the book in 2 or 3 months but then as I edit, I research to include clothing, food and social details that enrich the historical romance story. For other book, like contemporary romances if I have a particular setting that I’m unfamiliar with, I’ll acquire several travel books and coffee table books before I begin to write and then as I start writing, I reference them for details to get locations and settings as close to reality as I can.

What is your favorite scene in Legally Charming?
Probably the scene where Felicity decides to seduce Jared. She’s a shy girl, a very realistic heroine with full curves and she’s a virgin. So she and her best friend go shopping for sexy lingerie because she wants Jared, who up until this point has been reserved and in control during their heated make out sessions, to lose control. So while he’s cooking dinner, she changes into lingerie and covers up with a trench coat and then she walks into the living room and drops the coat. She’s wearing these little black heels with red bows and he just loses it. They have a really steam love scene then but it ends impossibly sweet. It’s what I love most about the characters. Their real, not stereotyped but it’s still smoking hot when they come together!

What's your favorite underappreciated romance novel?
Noah by Jacquelyn Frank. Her books are just…they leave me in awe. I read them and the characters, descriptions and emotions are so evocative and real that the book itself seems to breathe. Her entire Nightwalker series is just the best!

What question do you wish readers would ask? What is the answer?
I wish readers would ask me why I chose to write about an Alpha non-asshole hero. I feel like too may authors right now are writing about jerk heroes that are too one dimensional. It’s easy to write a jerk and then let him fall in love. Jerks can be hot but I think it sends a wrong message to readers that it’s okay to have heroes be rude and abrasive. You can create tension and chemistry that’s just as hot without the hero being a jerk. I choose to write my heroes for this series as non-jerks because I wanted a real life/ real hero feel to the books and I hope readers will notice and like it! Let’s show some love for Non-asshole Alpha males!

As a writer what would you choose as your spirit animal/mascot/avatar? Theme song?
My spirit animal is definitely a north American river otter. They are playful but can be fierce when need be. I love their happy go lucky manners. My Theme song is “Hells Bells” by ACDC. I just hear the bells and the opening guitar and I think…this song should play whenever I enter a room!

Do you listen to a specific playlist, album or song when writing? How does music factor into you writing process and the book's world?
I make a playlist for every single book I write which consists of certain songs for the hero, heroine and for certain situations. There are some repeat favorites that show up on more than one book’s playlist because they are just so good that I need to hear them again. Music is key, especially in the last fourth of my drafts because the toughest emotions and the hardest scenes including the black moments occur there and I need to be in a totally focused zone where I’m touching deep emotions inside myself to reach the characters and make their situation the deepest I can. Music carefully chosen can help me achieve that!
