Author Interview: Stalker, My Love by Zack Scott

Release: May 14th, 2017
Type: Mystery/Thriller/Romance, New Adult

Welcome to Pine Bridge, a small town where secrets are rife, personal is everyone’s business, and passion is high.

With the disappearance of Rosalyn Ray, tensions soar and fingers point in every direction: the lover, the mother, the best friend, and the stalker.

Frustrated by the search going nowhere, Rhett Calloway makes it his mission to discover the truth, find the girl, and win her heart. Some people in Pine Bridge say he’s obsessed. Some say he’s dangerous. Some say he’s hurt Rosalyn. All Rhett knows is he’s loved Rosalyn since they were kids and he’ll do what it takes to see her again.

Stalker, My Love is an untraditional love story where fantasy clashes with reality, and happily ever after seems like an elusive dream. Told through four POVs, the story follows those closest to Rosalyn Ray.

Author Interview
I'm excited to have author Zach Scott on the blog today to discuss her newest release, STALKER, MY LOVE.
Thanks for sharing, Zach!

Give us the "elevator pitch" for Stalker, My Love.
When a young woman vanishes from a small town, her stalker sets out to find her.

How did Stalker, My Love come to be? What was your inspiration to write the book?
I love a whodunit, and wanted to explore a stalker as a protagonist in the investigation. The person the stalker is obsessed with vanishes. What’s the ultimate goal of the stalker in finding the person? Is it selfish or selfless?

I also like pizza. There’s a small mystery about pizza in the book.

What lead you to writing a mystery/thriller/romance??
The first book I wrote, a story about selfish friends in a zombie apocalypse, was full of blood, gore, and mayhem. I then followed up with two sequels, and a book about an angry shark eating people. All four of those stories contain elements of mystery, thriller and romance, but I wanted to write something focused on those genres without all the chaotic violence.

Just some of the chaotic violence.

So I came up with Stalker, My Love a while back when I was writing a crime thriller (yet to be released), and the story fell naturally into those genres.

How would you describe Stalker, My Love in only three words?
A love story.

Do you listen to music while you write? What are some tunes on your playlist?
Sometimes. I used to frequently listen to music while writing, but don’t as often now because I can get pretty distracted and start singing (terribly). So now if I listen to music, it’s usually something instrumental, like Explosions in the Sky and This Will Destroy You.

What are you reading right now, or what is on your TBR list?
I’m looking forward to Dennis Lehane’s new novel Since We Fell.

I'd like to welcome author Mallory McCartney to the blog! Mallory has been extremely generous in the sharing of her playlist for Black Dawn. Seriously, look at all those videos! Thanks for sharing, Mallory!

Thank you for having me! 😊 A little backstory before I get into my playlists, music and I have had a long-time love affair. When I was younger, I would go through obsessive phases where I would discover every musical and indie band I could get my hands on, and listen to them on repeat. This hasn’t changed much. Not saying that I don’t love listening to the top radio songs (believe me I do) but I have a love for finding the underdog bands, and just musicals in general. When I started high school, I was in choir, Concert Band and Jazz band. In grade twelve I took vocal lessons, and throughout college, and to this day, going to live concerts is my favorite thing to do. Losing myself completely in live music, is the same feeling I get when I write, and it consumes me.

So, saying that, all my books that I write have very specific influences and Playlists! Black Dawn was fun, writing third person, with each chapter a different character, I found bands that would help me construct the core of each character, or the echo of their emotional traits. When I write, it’s like I’m watching a live scene in my head, and I am running behind, trying to catch what the music paints for me, and what the characters are unfolding in my head.

Here is Black Dawn’s Playlist:

"Glass Heart Hymn" by Paper Routes (this song is Memphis through and through for me)

"Sweet Spot" by Wild Beasts

"Organs" by Of Monsters & Men (Nyx)

"Only You" by Ellie Goulding (Nyx)

"Colors pt. II" by Halsey (Emory & Adair)

"Palace" by Wild Beasts (Memphis)

"Good Gracious" by Ellie Goulding (Emory)

"Pull me Back to Earth" by Friendly Fires (Brokk)

"Childhood’s End" by Majical Clouds (Adair)

"Mecca" by Wild Beasts (Adair)

"Love the way you Lie" by Eminem (Memphis & Nyx)

"Run" by AWOLNATION

"Windows" by AWOLNATION (Memphis)

"Drinking Lightning" by AWOLNATION (Nyx)

"Jailbreak" by AWOLNATION (Adair)

"Woman, Woman" by AWOLNATION (Memphis)

"Dream" by Imagine Dragons (Emory)

"Midnight City- " by M83

"Beyond The Flames" by Killswitch Engage (Brokk)

"Always" by Killswitch Engage (Brokk & Memphis)

"Time will not remain" by Killswitch Engage (Brokk)

"Love Like Ghosts" by Lord Huron (Nyx)

"Yawning Grave" by Lord Huron (Adair)

"The Arena" by Lindsey Sterling (a big one for Emory, Memphis and Adair)

"Night Visions" by Lindsey Sterling (Nyx)

"Take Flight" by Lindsey Sterling (Emory)

"Tiptoe" by Imagine Dragons (Black Dawn Rebellion)

I’m going to throw in an extra in for you this time as well! Here is one song for each of my main characters that are shaping them for book two, Queen to Ashes.

Azarius & Lana- "You’re Mine" – Phantogram

Adair- "Bloom"- Paper Kites

Emory- "Brave Enough"- Lindsey Stirling

Nyx- "The Phoenix"- Lindsey Stirling

Brokk- "Pools"- Glass Animals

Memphis- "Stubborn Beast"- Bear’s Den

Author Playlist and Guest Post: Bottom of the Sky by Shae Ross

Release: March 21st, 2017
Romance Subgenre: Romantic Suspense, New Adult

Tragedy set his course for revenge. One woman stands in his way.

John
The last thing I need is to be saddled with the on-the-run niece of the family I’m about to take down. Gianna Silva wants me to help her find her missing mother. But I’ve got bigger fish to fry—namely, her cousins Stefano and Santos Silva. I’m working on the inside, feeding information to the FBI, and I'm about to drop the net on their ring of counterfeiters. To keep Gianna out of my way, I’ve agreed to help her but under one condition: What I say goes. No questions. No pushback. I make the rules.

The problem is Gianna Silva doesn’t know the meaning of the word “rule” and she’s on to me. For two years, I’ve hidden my true identity behind a wall built from stone-cold revenge. I thought it was indestructible—especially against someone with the last name of Silva—the family I’ve vowed to destroy…

Gianna
If I could find my missing mom by myself I would, but the only enemies she’s ever had are my dead father and his powerful family. Confronting the Silvas alone is too dangerous. I need an insider who knows how to play their game. John Rossi, with his cool, bad-boy confidence and access to the family is my best hope. I’ve bargained away the last dollar in my savings account in exchange for his help, but I’m beginning to think I made a deal with the devil.

I didn’t expect his rules to include sharing a cabin—and a bedroom with him—northwest of Nowheresville. I don’t trust him, or my attraction to him. But to find my mom, I’ll break every one of his damn rules, regardless of the consequences…

About Jenny Holiday

Jenny Holiday started writing at age nine when her awesome fourth grade teacher gave her a notebook and told her to start writing some stories. That first batch featured mass murderers on the loose, alien invasions, and hauntings. (Looking back, she’s amazed no one sent her to a kid-shrink.) She’s been writing ever since. After a brief detour to get a PhD in geography, she worked as a professional writer, producing everything from speeches to magazine articles. More recently, her tastes having evolved from alien invasions to happily-ever-afters, she tried her hand at romance. A lifelong city-lover, she lives in Toronto, Canada, with her family. She is represented by Courtney Miller-Callihan of Greenburger Associates.
