Jace Daniels is undeniably sexy.
I mean who doesn’t like the muscular, tattooed type who’s all mysterious and brooding? But he’s on the run from something dangerous, and I have enough of my own problems.
My existence has revolved around deception for as long as I can remember. Sometimes lying is like a damn disease...one I’ve been exposed to since birth. And as many times as I’ve dreamed about running away, my mother’s grasp on me runs deep.
Phoebe Carson is hot as hell.
She’s not just gorgeous, but quirky and a lot of fun. Even though I can’t afford to get involved with anyone, I feel a need to protect her from her psychotic ex.
After a failed attempt to expose the truth about a fellow Marine’s disappearance, running was my only option. I don’t know how much time I have until they’ll arrest me, but I’m determined to make things right.
When their paths collide, the passion is so explosive that neither of them can walk away. But once the truth unravels, proving it’s more than fate that brought them together, will Jace still decide she’s worth fighting for?

Author Guest Post
I'm excited to have author Jennifer Ann on the blog today to discuss her book, Fighting for Phoebe. Thanks for sharing, Jennifer!
I’ve always wholeheartedly believed that real heroes don’t wear capes, they wear dog tags. Having grown up with a father, sister, and brother who all served in different branches of the US military, it would seem patriotism for this great nation runs deep in my blood. My mom and I were the proverbial black sheep, willfully choosing the civilian life. At least she was a nurse, still dedicating time to helping Americans in a different way. Before becoming a full-time author, I filed documents for the government. It wasn’t exactly a noble profession, though maybe a part of me was still trying to chase the military way of life.
When I think back to when I was eighteen, the only reason I can surmise for not enlisting would be because I was (and still am) a lazy wuss. A couple of years ago, some friends suckered me into a “mini boot camp” type training/hell, and I hardly made it through one session. Simply getting me on the treadmill every now and then is a serious ordeal, and often involves bribes of one kind or another. So it’s probably safe to say that the military just wasn’t for me.
But thankfully it was for my brother. And bless his heart for joining the Marines when I was in high school, because there was never a shortage of hot new friends for him to bring around. Some may say I have a slight obsession with Devil Dogs as every single one of my romance books to date includes a Marine. But as with the Marines I know in real life, there’s something special about my fictional jarheads that goes beyond simply being ripped and smoking hot (although that never hurts to expedite the fantasy).
Every Marine I’ve ever met is brave, loyal, and dedicated to their country. They’re true patriots even after they’re no longer on active duty. They’re also the kind of people you’re glad to know, because they’d have your back in a heartbeat. The Marines in my life may tend to get a little crazy, but they know how to have some serious fun. Whatever you do, don’t call them an ex-Marine, because they’re always and forever dedicated to that way of life.
In Fighting for Phoebe, Jace immediately feels a duty to protect Phoebe from her ex. Before anyone says “but they just met,” the idea of a Marine physically stepping up to a stranger in the bar, determined to honor what they felt to be the right thing, was drawn from real life experiences. I’m telling you, they’re an exceptionally loyal crew, driven by what they believe in their hearts.
Now that my teenaged son participates in federally funded youth program with the U.S. Navy, I’m cheering on our military with an entirely different role, one that will forever create tears of pride. And if my son enlists after high school as planned, I’ll probably have a hard time writing romance that involves young sailors, mostly because I wouldn’t want him or his new friends to be weirded out. But that doesn’t necessarily rule out the appearance by a hot Naval officer or two. ;)

New York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Katee Robert learned to tell her stories at her grandpa’s knee. She found romance novels at age twelve and it changed her life. When not writing sexy contemporary and speculative fiction romance novels, she spends her time playing imaginary games with her wee ones, driving her husband batty with what-if questions, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse. “Martha.”
Her mother’s eyes lit up and she half pushed to her feet. “Eden. I admit, when Abram told me you were back in town, I could hardly believe it.” “I’m not back.”
Her smile dimmed, and Eden called herself an idiot ten times over for wanting to do something to bring it back. Manipulation, that’s all it is. Martha motioned to the cups in front of her. “I got your favorite.”
There was nothing else to do but take the empty seat and get this over with. She took a sip—sweet with lots of cream—and didn’t bother to tell Martha she’d switched over to drinking her coffee black a few years back. It would serve no purpose, and her entire goal was to get out of here with the least conversation possible.
“It’s been a long time.”
She shifted, not sure how to take the searching look her mother was giving her, as if she was trying to memorize Eden’s features—or, possibly, was comparing them to the ones she’d had ten years ago. What was there to say? I hated the life you created and forced me into, so I left. You won’t change, and neither will I. This will never be what you want it to be. She couldn’t force the words past her closed throat, so she took another drink of coffee.
Martha hesitated, and then mirrored the motion. “A lot is different from when you were last home.”
Not nearly enough, she’d wager. But if her mother was offering information, she’d be a fool not to get everything she could from Martha. “Oh?”
“Our community has grown. It’s flourishing.” She gave a small self-deprecating smile. “But, then, you didn’t come back to talk about Elysia. How have you been?”
Over the years, she received phone calls from Abram, demanding information at odd times in that quiet terrifying way of his. He never asked more than a few questions, and she never offered more than strictly necessary for those forced check-ins—whatever it took to get him off her back. She didn’t want to now, either. “I’m still working for the government.” Safe enough to admit, since her mother already knew about it.
Sure enough, Martha’s lips thinned. “The FBI.”
“Using the skills I learned from you.” She knew better, but she couldn’t help the dig. “I’m sure I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Of course she didn’t. Because Elysia most certainly wasn’t a cult. Right. She didn’t roll her eyes, but it was a near thing. “You might like to pretend otherwise, but I know for a fact that Elysia has been on the FBI watch lists for years, so you’re not fooling everyone.”
“Eden Magdalene, you might be a woman grown, but that doesn’t mean you can take that tone of voice with me.”
Or speak too many truths, apparently. Eden stared at her coffee cup, suddenly exhausted. “I don’t suppose you know anything about a photograph showing up in my email yesterday?” It had all the hallmarks of one taken for an official police investigation, but that didn’t explain how it had found her. She’d had a friend in the tech department try to trace it, but it had been routed through several IP addresses before disappearing into the Internet-ether. Call her paranoid, but her first instinct was that her mother had something to do with it. How was the question, though.
Martha cocked her head to the side, frowning. “I’m not sure what you’re speaking of.”
Of course she wasn’t, though Eden was at a loss to decide if that was truth or because she didn’t want to admit to somehow being the leak in a murder investigation. She sighed. “What am I doing here, Martha? You know very well we couldn’t sit in the same room without going for each other’s throats when I was eighteen, and it would seem nothing’s changed since then.”
“I want what I’ve always wanted, baby. I want you to come home.”
There’s no home for me to come to, not now. Not ever. No matter how much I wish that wasn’t true. She cleared her throat. “I—” Think. Think fast. A hard no would just have Martha digging in her heels, and she wasn’t sure yet if Zach would change his mind. “I’ll think about it.” The lie rolled off her tongue with the ease of long practice. She wasn’t going back. She’d set herself on fire before she willingly walked through the gates of Elysia and put herself under her mother’s control again. The only reason she was here was to make sure no other girls turned up dead.
“It would mean so much.” Martha’s smile brightened, and a traitorous part of Eden brightened in response. It was how it always was with her mother. She rarely had to take the stern role when she could manipulate much more effectively with a soft word and a particular look. And when that wouldn’t work? Well, she wasn’t above getting her hands dirty, either.
Did you do it? Did you see that girl killed?
Eden couldn’t ask. The sheriff had already refused her help, and she’d have to be a special kind of stupid to go investigating on her own. There was nothing she could do without the power of the law on her side. If she tried…
Well, if she tried, there were plenty of unmarked graves in Elysia. What was one more?

Love For All Seasons: Four Inspirational Historical Romance Novellas by Stacy Henrie
Love For All Seasons
Release: November 9th, 2016
Romance Subgenre: Historical Romance, Inspirational Romance
Romance Subgenre: Historical Romance, Inspirational Romance
If you like the inspirational historical romances of Deanne Gist and Lauraine Snelling, you’ll love USA Today bestselling author Stacy Henrie! With four novellas—one for each season of the year—you’ll find a heartwarming collection of couples from a simpler time in America who discover the redeeming powers of faith and love.
A Long Winter Kiss
As Samantha and Rex’s childhood friendship matured into young love, they promised their hearts to one another, even as Rex headed off to war. But their hope for a bright future was shattered when Rex succumbed to his belief that the horrors of war had made him a man no woman could love. Now he has returned, and Samantha must help Rex see that he still has much to give—and much more to gain—by replacing fear with faith and opening himself to love.
An Unlikely Spring Courtship
Tempest worked hard to secure her independence as a woman running her own mercantile, so when Bram has the audacity to open a competing shop in a town with only enough room for one, Tempest is driven to despair. And then to retaliation. But when tragedy strikes their community and threatens everything they both hold dear, will they be able to recognize that what they share is far more important than what separates them?
A Summer for Love
Loralee’s life has changed dramatically in the eight years since she’s last seen the resort town of Bayocean, but one thing that has never changed is her feelings for Wyatt, a man she promised to meet at the resort on a specific day if they were both still unattached. When Wyatt appears on that date, as hopeful and uncertain as Loralee, the two must see if an old and abiding love has outlasted the changes wrought by time—and begin to build a new life together.
Romance in Autumn
Phoebe and James grew up together but apart in the same beautiful mansion, he as the son of the owners, she as the daughter of a servant. In the years since Phoebe’s fortunes have changed dramatically, and she carries the dream of one day owning the mansion that is still close to her heart. Until James—now a deeply compelling man—delivers the bad news that securing the purchase will be all but impossible. As Phoebe reluctantly relinquishes her dream, she will also look deep into her soul to learn that a true home might exist in her budding love for James.

Theme Songs
Does anyone else just adore a good anthology? They are so satisfying and the HEA’s just make such an impact when they are lined up in quick succession. When I heard that Stacy Henrie was releasing an anthology in November I quickly added it to my Goodreads list. I knew I had to pick up this book! Henrie’s work has been pivotal to me as a romance reader. Her book Hope at Dawnintroduced me to inspirational, historical romance and opened up an entirely new sub-genre to my romance reading tastes. I found Hope at Dawn and the entire Love & War series at Christmastime last year and I’ve been an avid inspirational historical reader ever since.
Love For All Seasons is an anthology in which there are four stories (one for each season). They are all inspirational and historical, but the time periods and characters in each story are not linked at all. I’ve chosen a historically accurate song, or work, for each of Henrie’s seasonal novellas.

A Long Winter's Kiss
Set in post-Civil War Michigan in 1861, A Long Winter’s Kiss is the story of Samantha and Rex. This second-chance romance takes place primarily over the Christmas season and involves some Christmas cheer and gift delivery. For A Long Winter’s Kiss, I’ve chosen the song “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” because it’s specifically mentioned at one point in the story.
“We Wish You a Merry Christmas" from An English Folk Christmas
An Unlikely Spring Courtship
This novella was SO GOOD guys! Set in 1867 Idaho, Tempest and Bram’s story was funny, and cute and altogether very charming. These two are both mercantile owners and they are duking it out in business full tilt. However, they just can’t help but fall in love with each other’s ingenuity and work ethic. An Unlikely Spring Courtship is a bit of opposites attract romance in terms of personalities so that hooked me right from the beginning. I chose Carmen’s "Bizet" for this novella since Bram took Tempest to the opera at one point. "Bizet" was a popular opera post-Civil War and there were several companies that toured the US via the railroad system performing works (such as "Bizet"). You can read more about opera in America after the civil war here.
“Bizet: Carmen"
A Summer for Love
Oh, Lorealee and Wyatt! Also a second-chance romance A Summer for Love is set in Oregon in 1922. Loralee is a singer and Wyatt owns a successful logging company, but they knew each other and fell in love years earlier when Loralee was a servant at a resort in which Wyatt was staying. Break out the tissues for this one, it’s certainly an emotional endeavor! For A Summer of Love I’ve chosen Marion Harris’ “Look for the Silver Lining”. Marion Harris was a popular singer in the early 1920’s and this song is something that Loralee would have, perhaps, sung as she toured the US and Europe.
“Look for the Silver Lining" by Marion Harris
Romance in Autumn
Yet another second-chance romance (are you sensing a theme) Romance in Autumn is Phoebe and James’ story. This novella is set in Rhode Island in 1905. A bit like A Summer for Love, Phoebe used to be a servant for James’ family. Now, years later, she is attempting to make a life for her mother and herself by buying the home in which they once lived and served. For Romance in Autumn, I chose a waltz. Waltzes were immensely popular in the late 1800s for big, ballroom parties (like James’ family would have held). As such, I’ve chosen “Die Schönbrunner” a waltz by Joseph Lanner. Lanner was an Austrian composer whose work helped propel the Viennese waltz to popularity in America (along with Johann Strauss). More information on Waltzes in the early 1900s can be found here.
“Die Schönbrunner” by Joseph Lanner

Maria Martinez thought it was a dream come true when Ritchie Perez—a sweet and sexy guy she met volunteering at a soup kitchen—took her delinquent little brother Joey under his wing. But her dream becomes a nightmare when she discovers Ritchie is the same man who put her twin brother Tito in prison for 10 years. Now Joey’s in trouble, and Ritchie’s been appointed his temporary guardian. He’ll be moving into Ritchie’s luxurious waterfront Miami home—unless he’d prefer a juvenile detention facility.
And if Maria wants to be with him, she’ll be moving in too.
Now a hugely successful attorney in private practice, Ritchie made his reputation as a tough prosecutor who didn’t make deals with drug dealers and gang members. But that history comes back to haunt him when the woman he’s falling for believes he’s responsible for convicting an innocent man, and destroying her family. Ritchie wants to stop Joey from making the same mistakes his brother did. And he wants Maria in his bed. But as desire heats their blood, will the past reach out and destroy their future?

Author Interview
I'm excited to have author Jane Peden on the blog today to discuss her new book, The Millionaire's Convenient Arrangement. Thanks for sharing, Jane!
1) How did you come up with the idea for The Millionaire's Convenient Arrangement?
I always start with what seems like an insurmountable obstacle as the hook for the story. In this book, I wondered what would happen if Maria, who is struggling to raise her 13-year-old orphaned brother while holding down two jobs, starts to fall for Ritchie, a wealthy Miami lawyer she meets volunteering at a soup kitchen, then finds out he’s actually the former prosecutor who put her twin brother in prison eight years ago. And to complicate matters, by the time she realizes who Ritchie is, he’s already been appointed the temporary guardian of her younger brother Joey (who’s fast becoming a juvenile delinquent), and Ritchie demands that both of them move into his house! I threw in some stubborn opinions and assumptions on both sides, then just started writing and hoped the characters would find a way to sort it all out. Because deep down inside, these two were meant to be together.
2) Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
I sometimes throw in a pop culture reference that some people may get, and others may not. Some are current and some are a bit more obscure. For example, in this book Ritchie makes an offhand comment about a “puffy shirt,” which is a reference to an episode of a classic TV show – do you know which one?
3) If someone is brand new to your work, what book do you think they should start with?
The Millionaire’s Convenient Arrangement is Book No. 2 in my Miami Lawyers series, and it’s a stand-alone romance. However, there are cameo appearances by characters from Book No. 1, The Millionaire’s Unexpected Proposal. In addition, readers have their first chance to meet Ritchie – the hero of Book No. 2 – in Book No.1, So, the easy answer is, you can read them in any order, but starting with the first book gives you the best introduction to the law firm and all three partners – Sam, Ritchie, and Jonathon.
4) What question do you wish readers would ask? What is the answer?
Why do you write romance books instead of literary fiction? There is certainly a place for all types of books, and I do read widely. But my favorite books have always been romances. Many books explore the human condition, but only in the romance genre can you pick up a book and know that whatever obstacles face the characters, whatever dark secrets or tragedies have clouded their past, however unreachable their goals for the future may seem, two things are certain: by the last page of the book they will have found love, and they will have found happiness. Romance novels are about people connecting emotionally and overcoming internal and external obstacles together. Whether they take place in historical settings, the here and now or the future, whether they mirror our day to day existence or open up a world of paranormal creatures, fantasy or magic, whether they feature sweet small town characters, or police detectives battling wits with a sadistic killer or military heroes bearing the scars of war, these are all books that end with a message of hope for the future. And at the center of that hope is love.
5) As a writer what would you choose as your spirit animal/mascot/avatar? Theme song?
My spirit animal, mascot or avatar would have to be a dog, not because dogs really have anything to do with writing but because, well, I just love dogs! (If you go to my author page on Facebook or follow me on Instagram you will see lots of pictures of my two rescue dogs, a Boston terrier named Eli, and a miniature schnauzer named Kota.) Dogs are loyal, trustworthy, and love unconditionally – all traits that we hope, by the end of each book, our characters have achieved. And they can also be fierce, when they are protecting the ones they love. A great theme song for writing my books is Katy Perry’s “Roar,” because it embodies the whole feeling of overcoming obstacles and meeting your challenges and being empowered. When two people can reach that point together, that’s a happily-ever-after love story I want to read.

Ink Exposed (Montgomery Ink #6) by Carrie Ann Ryan
Ink Exposed by Carrie Ann Ryan
Release: November 29th, 2016
Romance Subgenre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Montgomery Ink #6
Romance Subgenre: Contemporary Romance
Series: Montgomery Ink #6
The Montgomery Ink series continues with the brother that deserves a second chance, and the woman who has always loved him.
Alex Montgomery lost his first love and then proceeded to leave himself in the bottle. Only he and his ex-wife truly know why he fell so hard and so fast down a path he never thought he’d take. Now he’s clean, out of rehab, and learning how to be a Montgomery once again—a task that isn’t quite as easy as some of his family assumes.
Tabby Collins is an honorary Montgomery and the organizational mastermind behind Montgomery Inc., the family’s construction company. She loves her planners, friends, and a certain dark-haired man who’s never given her a second glance.
Alex is slowly re-immersing himself back into the world, but the demons he faced before aren’t out of the picture, and he’ll have to learn to rely on others to make it out whole. When Alex discovers that Tabby’s life is in danger, he not only finds a way to help her but also learns the true woman behind the soft smiles he’s always seen. Their romance won’t be an easy one, but nothing this passionate and heart-pounding ever is.

Theme Song
Alex and Tabby’s story is finally here!
For those of us immersed in the Montgomery Ink world created by Carrie Ann Ryan Alex’s journey has presented some problems. His demons have clearly been plentiful but he’s been presented in such a way that it’s hard not to root for him. Alex has the backing of his family though and by the end of Ink Enduring it looked like Alex had conquered his addiction and was cautiously diving back into the real world.
Tabby has worked for Storm and Wes for quite some time and she’s been worming her way into my heart since she first stepped on the page. She’s loyal to the Montgomerys but she doesn’t seem like a pushover. She’s almost cautiously enamored with the crew (and I love that about her).
So, in the timeline of the Montgomery Ink world, it’s been a year since Ink Enduring ended. Alex is back on track and he’s finally beginning to trust himself again. He doesn’t feel worthy of his family’s love and devotion, but he’s getting there. But when Tabby and Alex finally face up to the feelings that have been growing for quite some time things seem to shift all over again. She’s the addiction he doesn’t know if he’ll recover from. Tabby, on the other hand, has loved Alex for a lot longer than she should. She knows him and she knows he’s worthy of her love and her trust. And sheesh, when Alex finally proves to himself that he is gonna protect Tabby he does it ALL THE WAY.
This book did seem a bit more complicated than the previous Montgomery Ink books in terms of the baggage that Alex and Tabby brought to the page. Perhaps that’s since we’ve watched both these characters grow and change and develop over the course of a few books. Before Alex and Tabby even took a good long look at one another we, the readers, know that this could end really really poorly for the entire Montgomery crew. Luckily it doesn’t and the romance between Tabby and Alex is spectacular.

Side Note: I’m very, very, very nervous about Storm’s book y’all. However, Carrie Ann Ryan has said there will be NO cheating and that Storm and his lady’s journey will be hard. I’m hoping it proves worth it in the end since I have a pit in my stomach when I think about it. I almost put Ink Exposed down and DNF’d it since I began to think ahead and worry about Storm but I’m trusting in Ryan to make it all better. IT BETTER BE OK in the end!
So, the song I choose for Alex and Tabby may seem cliché. It seems like an easy choice since Alex is a photographer. However, this song wasn't really an easy choice since I specifically wanted to avoid cliché for Alex and Tabby it at all costs (they deserve more, ya know!?!). After searching high and low for the perfect lyrics for Alex and Tabby though I just couldn't compare any song to "Photograph" by Ed Sheeran. The lyrics are so haunting and so perfect for Alex and Tabby's mutual brokenness that, alas, this is the one for them.

New York Times and USA Today Bestselling Author Carrie Ann Ryan never thought she’d be a writer. Not really. No, she loved math and science and even went on to graduate school in chemistry. Yes, she read as a kid and devoured teen fiction and Harry Potter, but it wasn’t until someone handed her a romance book in her late teens that she realized that there was something out there just for her. When another author suggested she use the voices in her head for good and not evil, The Redwood Pack and all her other stories were born.
Carrie Ann is a bestselling author of over twenty novels and novellas and has so much more on her mind (and on her spreadsheets *grins*) that she isn’t planning on giving up her dream anytime soon.

I'm excited to have author Kerry Adrienne on the blog today to discuss her new book, Pursuing the Bear. Thanks for sharing, Kerry!
First off, I want to say up front that I love music. I almost always have something playing on my office sound system or through headphones or blasting in my convertible. Music is a huge part of my life and my creative process. I would be very sad if I couldn’t listen to it while writing.
The music doesn’t always fit the book. I play music that fits my mood or energizes me. I love bands like Marilyn Manson, Green Day, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Halestorm, The Beatles, and musical theater (current favorite there is Hamilton).
For Pursuing the Bear, Marilyn Manson was touring his latest album, The Pale Emperor. In the year leading up to and including writing the book, I saw eleven Marilyn Manson concerts. I traveled everywhere—sometimes flying, sometimes driving eleven hours to see the show. From small clubs to outdoor arenas, I went to as many as I could. So, it should come as no surprise that I was listening to Manson for most of the time I was writing this book.
I have thirty-six Manson playlists on my iTunes account. I have ones for the car, concept albums, favorite favorites, etc.
The playlist I listened to the most often is called: Marilyn Manson Driving Two. It contains old songs and new, mostly high tempo, and all loud. There are thirty-nine songs on the playlist, but I will list the first fifteen:
1. The Beautiful People
2. Tourniquet
3. Angel with the Scabbed Wings
4. The Reflecting God
5. Hey, Cruel World
6. No Reflection
7. If I was your Vampire
8. The Fight Song
9. Disposable Teens
10. Target Audience (Narcissus Narcosis)
11. The Nobodies
12. Mechanical Animals
13. Rock is Dead
14. Doll-Dagga-Buzz-Buzz Ziggety-Zag
15. (s)AINT
Thanks for having me here to talk music. It’s one of my favorite things in the world and there’s nothing like a live concert. I had a meet and greet with Marilyn Manson this summer and we talked about writing erotic horror. He’s a very brilliant wordsmith and I’d love to see the playlist he listens to when he writes!

Repped by the fabulous Marisa Corvisiero with the Corvisiero Literary Agency. http://www.corvisieroagency.com/
Kerry loves history and spends large amounts of time wondering about people who lived and walked on Earth in the past. She’s a mom to three daughters, six cats, and various small animals. Her husband says she’s a marketer’s dream, as she often believes everything she hears—at least initially. Her shoe horde will attest to her fine shopping skills.
In addition to writing, Kerry loves to sew (costumes and cosplay, especially), draw, paint, make chainmail, and play guitar.
Her new love is her Mini Cooper Convertible, Sheldon, and they have already gone on many adventures. They travel to as many concerts as they can–especially Green Day and Marilyn Manson.
You can visit her much-neglected costuming blog here: http://cloakandcostume.blogspot.com/ Maybe she’ll have time to update it soon.
